The Gryphon is a mythical creature with the head, talons and wings of an eagle, and the body of a lion. As the eagle was considered the ‘king of the birds’, and the lion the ‘king of the beasts’, the Gryphon was perceived as a powerful and majestic creature. Its body is blessed with the speed, flight, and penetrating vision of the eagle and the strength, courage, and majesty of the lion.
According to legend, the Gryphon roamed the Caucasus Mountains in search of gold and precious gemstones to build its nest, which made it a target for hunters.
By vigilantly protecting their nests, Gryphons developed a reputation for being the guardians of gold and came to guard the gold mines and the wealth of pharaohs and kings. Known for centuries as a symbol of strength and vigilance, the Gryphon stands guard as the mighty protector of inner worth and sovereignty.
We have chosen the Gryphon within our logo for it is an instantly recognizable symbol that conveys the strength, stability, vigilance and integrity that embodies the spirit of GSI.

Sovereignty is a relational concept rooted in personal responsibility and cooperation within a community. These are the tenets required of a civil society that forms social contracts while respecting and upholding a rule of law.
The line between Yin and Yang represents the balance between individual self-interest and cooperation within our community; between order and chaos.

The Celtic Circle and Shield symbolize the unity of spirit and virtue when enclosed in a circle. These energies are protected within the circle and cannot be broken.
Like King Arthur's Roundtable, the circle is a symbol for GSI Roundtable's quest to
uphold morality, equality of opportunity; and transition away from the superficial, hierarchical system that encroaches on personal and economic sovereignty.
Alchemy is an ancient practice shrouded in mystery and secrecy. Its practitioners mainly sought to turn lead into gold, a quest that has captured the imaginations of people for thousands of years. However, the goals of alchemy went far beyond simply creating some golden nuggets.
Alchemy was rooted in a complex spiritual worldview in which everything around us contains a sort of universal spirit, and metals were believed not only to be alive but also to grow inside the Earth. When a base, or common metal such as lead was found, it was thought to simply be a spiritually and physically immature form of higher metals such as gold. To the alchemists, metals were not the unique substances that populate the Periodic Table, but instead the same thing in different stages of development or refinement on their way to spiritual perfection.
As historian Nevill Drury noted, "The alchemists did not regard all metals as equally mature or 'perfect.' Gold symbolized the highest development in nature and came to personify human renewal and regeneration. A 'golden' human being was resplendent with spiritual beauty and had triumphed over the lurking power of evil. The basest metal, lead, represented the sinful and unrepentant individual who was readily overcome by the forces of darkness ...
If lead and gold both consisted of fire, air, water, and earth, then surely by changing the proportions of the constituent elements, lead could be transformed into gold. Gold was superior to lead because, by its very nature, it contained the perfect balance of all four elements.“ - Excerpt from Benjamin Radford writing for Live Science March 24, 2016
Alchemy is a metaphor for personal transformation.
